Rivlift -  The Safer Alternative

Winner of the BROSH Occupational Health & Safety Award in the Public Sector and Community Services Category

2007  Solutions Challenge.

A new method of repairing trip hazards has come about with the development of the 'RivLift ', an innovation that can now turn the job of repairing a trip hazard an into a one man job without the stress and strain of before.

This innovation has already won an Occupational Health and Safety award in the Public Sector and Community Services Category in the 2007 Solutions Challenge.

Trip hazards are part of everyday life for maintenance crews within cities and shires. The normal method of fixing such a hazard, where the slab is intact, is using a crowbar to lift the slab, requiring at least two staff members.

This method can also create the risk of back, neck and leg injuries because of the amount of effort that is required to lift a concrete slab. A lot of times, if the  concrete has risen above the required level, the concrete would be smashed up and taken away, to be replaced by a new slab being poured.

This not only costs more money for the replacement, but also for the man hours involved and the extra risk of injury whilst smashing up the concrete with a sledge hammer and lifting and shovelling the broken concrete on to a truck.
